Start where you are

Choose the question that matters most.

How will our savings turn into a paycheck?

Retirement income is usually several sources working together. A useful first conversation separates what you must spend from what you would like to spend, then looks at which sources might reasonably cover each.

Worth thinking about

  • Essential versus flexible spending
  • Order and timing of withdrawals
  • How inflation and longevity change the picture

Retirement is a set of connected questions.

Each overview is general education; it does not predict an outcome or tell you what to choose.

How might the pieces fit together?

Explore how spending, Social Security, pensions and savings may relate. Markets, inflation, health and longevity are uncertain, so a plan is a conversation to revisit, not a prediction.

Comprehensive planning

Connected questions, personal attention.

Work directly with Tim Hartle, your client-facing adviser, to explore your priorities and the questions behind your retirement decisions.

Investment advice and comprehensive financial planning, considered together within the written advisory engagement.

Planning topics and services are subject to the scope of a written engagement; they are not automatically included for every client.

How retirement income is approached

Two kinds of income, treated differently.

The conversation begins with what you expect to spend. Income is then sorted by how dependable it is, because the two kinds behave very differently.

Sources paid to you

Social Security, pensions and any contractual income

Set by an outside payer or contract. Amounts and terms come from that payer; any annuity income depends on the contract and the insurer's claims-paying ability.

Withdrawals you choose

Drawing from savings and investments

Not guaranteed. What a portfolio can sustain depends on markets, inflation, the order of returns, spending and taxes, so withdrawal plans are revisited rather than assumed.

The question in between: how much of planned spending external income may cover, and what that implies for withdrawals. It is an exploration, not a promise of income or returns.

Insurance and annuity evaluation optional · separate capacity

Optional consideration of product features, costs and trade-offs. Insurance and annuities are separate from investment-advisory services; a purchase is not required to obtain advisory services.

Annuities are insurance contracts. Guarantees, including guaranteed lifetime income benefits where available, are subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. Product features, fees, withdrawal restrictions, and surrender charges vary by contract.

Reading for your stage

Where are you on the road?

Clear boundaries

Questions about services and capacity.

Does fiduciary language apply to every service or product?

No. PGW Financial LLC provides fiduciary investment advice within the applicable written advisory engagement. That role does not automatically extend to separately offered insurance products or mean that every service is commission-free or free of conflicts.

Are insurance or annuity products part of the advisory service?

Insurance products are offered separately through appropriately licensed insurance agents and may generate commissions and conflicts of interest. A purchase is not required to receive advisory services, and an insurance transaction does not by itself establish an investment advisory relationship. Insurance transactions are not automatically subject to the investment-adviser fiduciary standard.

Could an insurance or annuity purchase involve a commission?

Yes. Insurance transactions may generate commissions and create conflicts of interest. Advisory compensation depends on the applicable written agreement. Ask for service- and product-specific compensation disclosures before making a decision. Specific compensation arrangements remain subject to review before publication.

Are all planning services automatically included?

No. Services and fees depend on the applicable written engagement. Tax and legal questions should be coordinated with qualified tax and legal advisers; PGW does not provide tax or legal advice.
